Banoštor Wineries: A Tasting Guide to the Northern Slopes of Fruška Gora
Šijački, Stojković, Vinum — family wineries, sedusa, bermet and tasting tips.

Vines have grown on Fruška Gora for nearly two thousand years — the Romans planted the first vineyards here. Banoštor, on the mountain's northern slopes and right on the Danube, is one of the places where that tradition is most alive today.
Why Banoštor?
The northern slopes of Fruška Gora and the nearby Danube create a special microclimate for grapes. That is why so many family wineries are packed into this small area — from cellars with century-old traditions to newer, ambitious producers.
Wineries we recommend
Šijački Winery
The Šijački family tends around 13.5 hectares of vines — Riesling, Chardonnay, Merlot, Blaufränkisch, Cabernet and more. Their pride is a red wine from sedusa, an indigenous Fruška Gora grape. Tastings come with a view of the Danube.
Stojković Wine Cellar
A cellar with a tradition dating back to 1912. Alongside classic whites and reds, they make bermet to a closely guarded family recipe — the spiced dessert wine Fruška Gora is famous for.
Vinum Winery
A younger winery, founded in 2001, focused on quality and limited yields. Graševina, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay are its strengths, and its tasting room welcomes larger groups.
And more…
Fruškogorski Vinogradi and Bikicki also operate in Banoštor and are highlighted by wine guides in 2026. It is worth asking about smaller, lesser-known cellars too — they often hold the nicest surprises.
Tasting tips
- Always call ahead a day or two before your visit.
- Plan 2–3 wineries a day — more than that becomes a race, not a pleasure.
- Choose a designated driver or pick wineries within walking distance.
- Ask for the wine you can't buy in shops — that's where the stories are.
Banoštor wine tastes best in the evening, in the vineyard it came from.
Vinea Montis is just minutes from Banoštor's wineries — an ideal base for a wine weekend in Serbia.
